Technology: Weird and Wonderful 21 July 2010

What time is it? It's time to get Weird and Wonderful!

Speaking about time, have you seen the Flip Clock? It literally spells out the time. Unfortunately it will cost you quite a bit of money, but it's still way cool!

If you thought that was weird, look at what I have right here a USB Powered UVMini. I can hear you all going, "hUh?". This little device plugs into your USB port and is a small state of the art USB Toothbrush Sanitizer. "Oh!". I actually think that this can be really useful as you might be out camping or you end up in some strange place that might not have been cleaned in 1000 years (or something).Even if your not close to a computer it has a decent rechargeable battery for sterilization to take place. If your interested you can look on the UVMini website.

Lights, lights, I see bright, very bright lights. Not really, but if your looking for some cool looking lights, I have just the thing. Firstly we have the Guitar Wall Light. A very creative design as you can either buy the string-less guitars or you can use your very own guitar. Your guitar is fitted securely on a stand that dangles from the wall and behind it is a light that will glow on your wall. To grab this rocking light check out PB Teen.

Next light up is the POD Lamp with docking station. This is the most handy iPod gadget I have seen so far, as I am looking for a desk lamp. You gets your hands on one of these at OttLite.

That's it for the Weird and Wonderful. Sorry for the short article but not much happened, well not much that was weird and wonderful. See you soon!

The Dangers of the Cyber World

Due to our blog, girls came to me with the story that they got played. I started having a conversation with them and the one girl, *Sonja, told me her story:

It's been a year now that I am chatting to *Monique, we met on Mxit and automatically clicked on the cyber world. She told me about her life and I have come to trust her. Her Facebook photo checked out and her photo's had the same face in all of them. I wasn't to worried anymore as Monique would phone and text me, we sent emails to one another and became good friends and we started flirting a bit. A couple of months later I asked her to meet me, we made plans to meet at a mall not too far from where she stays. The night before the meeting she told me she was in South Africa because she ran away from her strict dad and brother, to find someone she was looking for and that we can't meet the next day as her father was at the airport to come talk to her. I felt sorry for her, she's young and would be in so much trouble with her dad, so I told her it's ok we can meet some other time. She stalled our meetings for another two to three months as her dad didn't want her out of his sight.

One day het cousin *Jason rocked up at my work, introducing himself and saying she has sent me a gift. Later that day she phoned me to confirm that I have received the gift. Jason backed up all of Monique's stories, he even showed me more pictures of her. Because I liked Monique, I started hanging out with Jason more often and became really good friends.

Next thing I knew the unexpected happened, Monique had to go back to *England, because she had business to attend to. Some days later she was hospitalized and even mailed me photo's of her there. Due to her hospitalization, she couldn't fly back. The next two times she was also suppose to fly back to South Africa she had some excuse. Jason also gave me hope when all I wanted to do was forget about her. In the meantime Jason had penetrated himself into my life and my family and even my workspace. I shared secrets with him as he was a gentleman and a good friend who didn't judge me for being gay or even try to get into my pants. About seven months passed and I was to find out, Monique does not exist and Jason was the mastermind. He confessed everything. He said he got tangled in a web and tried to get out but it wasn't easy. The sad thing is that I am not the only girl who went through this. These girls came forward as well and everyone received the same gifts and photo's as well as stories.

As I am having this conversation with these girls as well as *Cindy, I realize what a threat the cyber world is. not everyone walks away with a broken and broken trust, some people's lives are in danger because of con artist. Jason has these girl's addresses, know where they work and even have their bank accounts. It could have been much worse if Jason had other motives for it.

If you or someone you know have been a victim of something similar please email us at themodernlinfo@gmail.com as we would like to make people aware of the dangers out there.

Confessions Corner - July

I was born on 1991-01-28 in East London. Growing up with 2 loving parents was good. When I was like 14 years old I kissed a gal but that does not mean anything to me up until I was 17 years old when I discovered that I'm a lesbian. But I still tried to fight and hide the feelings of how I like woman. In that process I met a gal called Chelsea and I fell in love with her in such a way that I was tired of being ashamed because I'm a lesbian. It's when I realized then that I have to tell my parents. Telling my parents was hard because most of the time parents hate their kids because of being gay but my parents understood me and gave me their support. SO IF YOUR STILL IN A CLOSET, KEEP TELLING YOURSELF YOUR NOT GAY U WILL SUFFER ALONE JUST BE WHO YOU ARE MEANT TO BE.

Skin & Colour

I have been thinking about this for some time now. Why are people so set in on colour, none of us even share the same skin. Every person on earth has a right but sometimes the past can create a barrier between different people and cultures. We all judge upon one another call each other names everything has to do with the colour of a skin. I'm not saying go beyond your morals and date other races, what I'm trying to say is, get to know a person from a different race, you just might find yourself with a new friend.

My sister and I share the same blood, the same skin colour but not the same skin. None of us are so identical that we are 100% alike. Yet every baby is born from a womb and has to learn to crawl, walk and become human, every child develops their own personality, every teen develops their own future and every adult works towards that future. Not all of us are even comfy in our skins and this has nothing to do with pimples, scars or even blackheads.

What if a woman is successful in her career but cries herself to sleep as she has no one. What if you are trying hard to fit into society but society spits you out like a mauled bubblegum. We might be born in the wrong bodies or simply we just think we are completely lost in our own skins. When somebody says I see you, what do they really see. The body is like an avatar its empty and lifeless, without a driver.

We have to fight for human rights, we have to fight to be gay, to be different. Trans genders have a battle to be accepted for who they are. What about hermaphrodites, why are these people still hiding away? Is it that they are too scared to come out, no hermaphrodite asked for the body they have, but they still have to fight just to have friends that will accept them for who they are.

Let's take a stand now and form a web. Let's all fight for the right reasons and not for what the past created as it is the future that is awaiting us all.

Agony Aunt - July

What if we have been beaten to the ground (emotionally, mentally, physically, or spiritually) what if we are too tired or broken to stand up? What about the girl selling her body, the woman who beats on her lover after a drink too many, the silent girl who drags a blade across her skin to make sure she still has feelings, the woman who takes her heroin shot and prays it to be her last. What if their prayers aren't getting answered because they don't know how to reach for something more.

We spend our times on what ifs but most of us felt like this in our lives. That there is no way out, well now there is a way, if anyone has any problems they want to talk about or have prayers said for you or someone you know, contact us on
themodernlinfo@gmail.com . Every person will be treated with respect and in confidentiality.

Confronting Your Myth

The Hole of isolation, loneliness, darkness, the ultimate desolation of one self. How you face it and keep moving on within ones own mind and body, how do one keep up with the fast pace when the shackles of darkness keeps pulling one down and away from ones own life, how do you endure the heart wrenching disabling deepness of the darkest shadows.

One endure and ride it out, searching and reading, enduring and learning from those days and nights, you go deep within and search for the reason for that deep hole to exist, the origin of those tears breaking so deep in your sole. Who, where, how, when and what started the deep desperation for your soul to holler so loudly for you to be able to hear it.

Depression many call it, Manic is the experience many find it, yet I call it my souls outlet to express to me and the wide universe as my art and writing is to my inner sanctum, thus is the black hole to my own souls discovery, finding the answers is not always immediately, usually only when I return from the dark. But finding it, I do, rediscovering myself this I do, even with one small exclamation from a child, I discover my souls reason for crying so loudly from the shadows of my past, discarding me into the darkness of the hole.

And every time I enter it and exit it, I know that the next entry would be more deeper than the first, but it will only be after many a time has passed, as it becomes fewer in between the better I know myself and my dark-dark secrets in life.

So enter it with an open minded soul as your soul is merely shouting for release from your own created prison, only to be found and released, as it is part of you, a part that you never wanted to know or be known, therefore you hid it from you and yourself.

Face the mythical mysteries of your inner being and you shall be free, no matter how bad it might seem.

July Music Album Choices

Sevendust - Cold Day Memory
If you love Alternative Metal/Hard Rock then this is definitely the album for you. Sevendust is no new comer to the music scene as Cold Day Memory is their 8th studio album. And what makes this a great album is the fact that you can't help bobbing your head to every song.

How to Destroy Angels - How to Destroy Angels
If you are a Nine Inch Nails fan then this is for you as Trent Reznor has been working with his wife, Mariqueen Maandig, and Atticus Ross on this album. And you can definitely hear the Nine Inch Nails undertone in the tracks. Although most of the songs is melancholic, slow-paced and somewhat eerie - basically, It's similar to Nine Inch Nails but with female vocals.

Robyn - Body Talk Pt. 1
Robyn a Swede with a dance pop princess status is out with a new album. The album consists of 9 power packed songs and my personal favourite is Fembot.

Macy Gray - The Sellout
Macy Gray is out with a new album! I am excited as it has been three years since her last album. Although there is not much change in her music style but if you are a die hard Macy Gray fan you won't care. My favourite song of this album is Beauty In The World.
