Twelve days ago, Angel Joubert, our friend, daughter, sister, baba and team-member tragically lost her life in a car accident in Johannesburg, South Africa. The news of her untimely passing sent shockwaves through her circle of friends, her family, her community and shook the foundations for all of us here at The Modern L HQ.
Angel had touched the lives of so many people in so many ways. Here is a few messages from friends and family members for whom the void that her loss had left us with, can never be filled:

Tihan – Close Friend: “A prayer from Heaven
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me “

God borrowed only his best to us for a little while and now you are safe in his arms out of harms way...
Your voice is silent, our arms is empty, but our hearts will always be filled with your love and memories.
We miss your soft and gentle touch, the sweet loving kisses and hugs... you are so far but yet you feel so near...
We still wait for the day to come for you to enter the door or the phone to ring on your tune... I guess that day will never come and we will never hear you say... “lief jou boetatjie” and “lief jou sissatjie” we will forever hear it in our hearts...
Your time spent in our lives was too short and we will give anything just to have you back again... you are safe and not hurting anymore... so please wrap your golden wings around us and ease the pain... till we meet again.

I still do not understand why this had to happen to you,

Our time together was memorable and God took you way too fast,
But the most precious thing to me was you being there for me
and me wishing I was there one last time to see the way u look!!

But I have known you long enough for you to have a special place in my heart and call you my friend...we did a photo shoot together and I will never forget the way your beautiful face lit up with your unique smile when u looked at me and I made a silly joke or I made you laugh... The moment we met we instantly clicked, like we had known each other for years... What you told your mom bout me, Jones told me and I will never forget... You really are an amazing woman! Thank you for giving me a part of your life to get to know me and trusting me, I am honoured to be able to say that we shared special moments together in one perfect day !! To everyone who knew Angel and made a positive impact on her life, our sincerest condolences go out to you and we thank you for being a part of her life.
I would like to thank the Modern L team for all your help and support during this very difficult time and for being there for me despite having to deal with your own loss. To my co-owner, Martha; models Erin, Nikki and Chantell; designer Ilse and columnist Straight Stella (who never left my side) I thank you from the bottom of my heart, I would not have made it without you!

My heart feels heavy reading this and I didn't even know her, she seems to have made a profound impact on a lot of lives.... My thoughts remain with you all in this tragic time and the world mourns your loss with you, love, Vee xx

ReplyDeleteWish I could have read this on day it was published but then there reason why things happen in order they do... looking back at my life the last few months it makes sense i end up here i think. My codelenses to family and friends, loosing someone never easy, and only time heals the wound of loosing a loved one.... I would like to recommend a book i read not to long ago. To those who might have lost faith in "God" and struggle with concept why He let it happen go read 'The Schack' of William Paul Young...

Not a day passes where i don't think about ANGEL.. the dearest friend she was.. i miss you so mych.. i still remember all the times we stayed up all night just sitting and writing poems.. those memories i will cherish forever my ANGEL!!
