THE SPRING FEVER ISSUE

Stella Bester; Wedding of my dreams

Wedding of my dreams

The sun slowly peeps over the top of the dunes. The birds chirping there joy in a welcome song for today. The leaves smell fresh , cleaned by yesterdays rain. The dust gone. Butterflies and insects dancing amongst the branches, playing hide and seek. A calmness humming it song to the voice of dune bugs waking up. The day my dream coming true.

In half an hour I am going to make a vow of love to the woman I was created to be with. The Creator of heaven and earth had planned and gifted us to each other. She, the part of me that I had been looking for, dreamed about for as long as I can remember. She, my soul mate, making her my life partner and wife!

Playing with the precious band of gold, the symbol of eternal love, I feel the engraved names inside! A sign of us starting a new never ending life cycle of love.

As I take a deep breath, pulling my white linen shirt straight. Fiddling with the pants and wiggling my feet feeling the sand and leaves. Not sure if I am excited, happy or nervous, I put the ring back into my pocket. Making sure it won't fall out. I am ready to go to the beach now, it our special day.

The soft hand on my shoulder, the touch of an angel, my wife to be! I would know that touch from a billion others. Her touch. lite's my soul into a galaxy of shooting stars. " You ok?" Her loved voice sparkles in my ears. " I am! You?" Nodding and smiling  " I  had come here to thank the Creator, our guides and angels, my special dragon friend, your mom and dad for helping and guiding us to this wondrous moment. I had not always understood, even fought their help, but still they stayed true to their task. They had known of this wonderful moment that was written in our life's journals.
" I say, softly pulling her closer, holding her hands, softly say of prayer of thanks and gratitude.

She dressed like a vision of love in her soft white dress. Her hair hangs playfully on her shoulders. She wearing sandles matching her dress. Her sent, sweet and known, her skin as soft as her gentle heart and nature. She looks more like my angel of love than ever before.

As our lips meet, my heart misses a beat. It starts racing as I feel her close, our hands weave together. With the eyes of true love we look at each other. Without a word our heart start celebrating eternal love and life as one. Words no tongue could ever sound!

Hand in hand we returning to the beach house, still talking a word less language of our souls!

The people smile, there faces reflecting a moment of a dream come true, embodied in us. We all search for this, then maby if we lucky we become one of the blessed ones finding a love so true.

The sky is cloudless, the wind had settled into a gentle whisper, the sea blue as sapphires, the waves dance with the dolphins. It as if nature has taken this moment and made it the most perfect it could be. We came together to be perfect for each other and not perfect people.

As we start walking towards the beach, the stones and sand sings and talks to us. Hand in hand we walk towards the circle of roses in the sand. All of creation and our friends our witnesses.

The circle of friends close around our circle of roses. We turn toward each other, holding hands, looking at one another. We both knew, this it, our moment in time! Even thou it feels like we had lived it in lives before.

We both can feel the presence of loved one who had passed on, those choosing to play amongst the sand and sea, joining the sacred circle of love. A perfect blessing!

Her eyes shine like emeralds as she looks at me. Words come and go, the words of this world just a formality to what we had found in our beings. The commitment echoing in the treasure chest of time.

The words I wrote to her suddenly feels clumsy and empty. The ring , I put on the hand of reason, is filled with love. While I say the sacred vows,  I look in her eyes, slowly placing the ring on her waiting finger. Gifting her this worldly symbol of never ending love, respect and commitment.

As I hold my hand out to her, I know with all my being I am truly loved! I am luckiest person in this world. In this moment, words does not exist!

" You are partners in life, love and body till death separates you! You may kiss your wife..." My heart burst into a wave of rainbowed light and joy! She now my wife till the end of time! Pulling her close my body and soul fuses with hers, our lips touch with the gentleness of angels.

" I love you, my beloved wife!" The soft words whispered between as"

The heavens rejoice, love surrounds us! It is what had been written in the stars and planned by
God himself!

Our circle smiles, rejoices at this moment. Some tears of wonder and joy shed. An unseen hug surrounds us from loved ones watching over us.

We turn as one, carrying the symbols of eternal love into our world. The voice of my daughter, gifted out life's vault calls to her mummies, running towards us with open arms. The circle of 6 arms makes a family woven together by love, hope and wonder complete!

We walk through a honorary guard of friends, celebrating the ultimate blessing, true love and our own family! Glimpsing back, the circle of roses is kissed by the sea.

Kera Untamed Tattoo Studio: Interview with a tattoo artist

Today we have an interview with a female tattoo artist....

We have asked her a few questions, which she answered with passion. let's see what she said:

1. How old were you when you decided to become a tattoo artist and what inspired you?
From about the age of 13, I’ve been interested in tattooing and the tattoo lifestyle. I never took to the academic side of school, I concentrated on my art,
it was the only thing that made me happy. It was just a bit limited and that’s where tattoos grabbed my attention. It was an awesome way to express
yourself and wear it proudly!

2. On a scale 1 to 10, 1 being your lowest how cool would you rate your job to be?
10 definitely! It never gets boring or tedious! Every tattoo on every client is different and interesting to do.

3. Tattoo artistry throughout history was always male dominant how do you find the competition between male and female tattoo artists?
It’s difficult to prove yourself as a female artist still, but it is getting better. I do think female tattoo artists have an upper hand when it comes to
patience, a gentler touch or for comfort while getting tattooed.

4. How did you become a tattoo artist as there are so many people out there who don't have a clue on where to start?
It is still very difficult to get into. I apprenticed in Durban. You have to put a mean portfolio together and approach tattoo studios.
It’s difficult and long and pay is low or nothing at all and you start right at the bottom with cleaning. But if it is a passion then you make a plan.

5. Describe a normal working day for Kera?
Hmmmm, I get to at least sleep in a bit till 9 or 10. Woohoo! The day consists of whatever music I feel like, awesome clients to deal with and
otherwise I sit and do customer designs for clients that have requested it. There isn’t an unpleasant aspect of the job because I’m doing everything I love...
unless you get a rude client, but that you get everywhere! The in betweens consist of cleaning and sterilizing everything every time for every client.

6. How do your friends see you and how often do they want your ink?
Some don’t treat me any different. But you do get the few that seem to introduce you with your job title and want to talk about tattoos even at parties.
And they expect discount because they your "best buddy". Good friends of mine get tattooed pretty often but they pay like any regular client. Otherwise I trade
from time to time.

7. In today’s society how do you see the LGBT lifestyle do you think it improved allot since the 1900's and do you think more people are coming out?
It has improved some what, but I think some people take it overboard and throw it in everyone’s face. We want to be treated equal, and then we should act that way!

8. Your favorite drink alcoholic and non alcoholic?
I’m not a big drinker, but I do enjoy Whiskey and monster. Otherwise, I’m addicted to Coca Cola.

9. Your favorite food dish?
 Pasta

10. Your ultimate most fave band or artist?
At the moment it is "Fly Leaf".

11. DVDs, pizza and wine or a good night out on the town?
DVDs, pizza and coca cola definitely, and PS3 of course!

12. What is your favorite style of tattooing?
I mostly enjoy black and grey detailed shaded pieces. But generally I love all styles.

13. How long now are you in the art?
This will be my 4th year.

14. If anyone wants to get inked by you how can they get into contact?

South Africa: Declare 'Corrective Rape' a Hate-Crime

This is a call to all South Africans who would like to make "Corrective Rape" more punishable. "Corrective Rape" is a term used to describe when a man rapes a lesbian with the aim of 'turning' her heterosexual! This mostly happens in our Townships but it can happen to anyone. We need to support Luleki Sizwe.

Ndumie Funda
Luleki Sizwe is an NGO/NPO formed by Ndumie Funda, the fiancée of a victim of “corrective rape” who died in 2007, to provide support to victims of “corrective rape” and to lobby for the SA Government to do something about this scourge!
The project was named after a close friend of Ndumie’s, Luleka Makiwane, who was raped by her cousin, and died of AIDS as a result of that rape in 2005, and Ndumie’s late fiancée, Nosizwe Nomsa Bizana, who was gang-raped by five men because of her sexuality and died of complications as a direct result of that rape.

Hate crimes on the basis of sexual orientation are not recognised by South African law
  • 31 lesbian women have been murdered because of their sexuality in the last 10 years
  • More than 10 lesbians a week are raped or gang raped in Cape Town alone
  • South Africa has one of the highest incidences of rape in the world
  • 150 women are raped every day in South Africa
  • For every 25 men accused of rape in South Africa, 24 walk free
The objectives of Luleki Sizwe are as follows:
  • To change the existing negative perception about lesbian, bi-sexual and transsexual (LBT) women in our society
  • To support and reach out to lesbians who have been forced from their homes due to their sexual orientation and HIV status
  • To educate and empower lesbians about issues such as safe sex, healthy living, health programmes, sport, media, arts/ culture and human rights
  • To raise awareness on social issues e.g. rape, sexual assault, discrimination
  • To celebrate young and older lesbians through arts, drama and other forms of expression
  • To fundraise for different programs
  • To create awareness around LBT human rights at a professional and social level
Please go to http://lulekisizwe.wordpress.com/ to read more about this project. Also look at this page http://lulekisizwe.wordpress.com/how-you-can-help/ to see how you can help and make a difference as they need our help and support.

I'm male, I recently found out the brother of my ex girlfriend is gay and he recently came out the closet, he knows I'm bisexual and he's hitting on me, What should I do? it would feel weird to get into anything with him also He's not really my type.

Be honest with him, a person can be polite while having a weird conversation. Make sure he understands that if he wants to be friends with you that you won't tolerate him coming onto you. Go out together as friends and introduce him to other gay or bi men. If you do not wish to be his friend you can also tell him that. Best of luck to you. Martha
